The Differences That Matter

Cost

For 10 users, ERPNext's software costs nothing and hosting starts at $60 a year; Business Central Essentials costs $9,600 a year and Premium $13,200. The difference funds a lot of implementation work.

Control

ERPNext's code is open and it runs wherever you want, including your own hardware. Business Central online runs in Microsoft's cloud and is extended through Microsoft's tools; an on-premises version is sold through partners.

Everyday fit

Business Central feels at home for teams living in Outlook and Excel, and accountants often know it already. ERPNext asks people to work in its own browser app, which is clean but new to them.
