Key Takeaways
- Most local SEO is sold as a monthly fee for set deliverables: 63% of agencies in a BrightLocal survey bill that way.
- The price depends on competition in your area, the number of locations and how much content, review and link work is included.
- A real package covers the Business Profile, reviews, local pages, listings, links and tracking, not only a monthly report.
- Multi-location businesses usually pay per location, often at a lower rate per location than a single site.
- Measure it by calls, direction requests and bookings from local search, and by rankings across your whole service area.
Local SEO usually costs a monthly fee for an agreed set of work, and the price depends on how competitive your area is, how many locations you have, and how much content, review and link building is included. A single-location business in a quiet market pays far less than a multi-location business in a crowded one. Below: how local SEO is priced, what a package should include, and our own prices.
How Local SEO Is Priced
In BrightLocal's industry research on what agencies charge for local SEO, the most popular billing method was a monthly fee based on deliverables (63% of agencies), followed by per-project pricing (36%), hourly rates (28%) and a monthly fee based on hours (24%). Many agencies use more than one.
- Monthly fee for deliverables: a set list of work each month, such as a number of pages, review management and reporting.
- Per project: one-off jobs such as a profile rebuild, a citation cleanup or a local SEO audit.
- Hourly: advice and ad hoc work.
- Per location: multi-location businesses often pay a set fee for each location.
For broader context, Ahrefs' survey of 439 SEO providers found the most common monthly retainer for SEO of all kinds was $501 to $1,000, with agencies averaging $3,209. Our guide to what SEO costs covers that survey in full.
What Changes the Price
- Competition in your area. A personal injury lawyer in a large city faces far more competition in the map pack than a specialist in a small town.
- Number of locations. Each location needs its own profile, reviews, pages and listings.
- Service area size. Ranking across a whole metro area takes more work than ranking near one address.
- Content. Service and area pages written with real local detail take time.
- Reviews. Setting up and running a review request system, and replying to every review.
- Links and mentions. Earning local links from associations, suppliers and local media.
- Tracking. Calls, direction requests and bookings tracked back to local search.
What a Real Local SEO Package Includes
Compare packages against this list. If a quote leaves most of it out, it is a report, not a service:
- Google Business Profile optimization: categories, services, attributes, photos, posts and Q&A.
- A review system: requests, monitoring and replies.
- Consistent listings across the directories that matter for your industry.
- Service and area pages on your website that match the profile.
- Local links and mentions.
- Call and form tracking, so leads can be counted.
- Rankings checked across a grid of points in your service area, not from one spot.
What We Charge
Our local SEO service is priced in the open:
| Plan | Price | For |
|---|---|---|
| Single Location | $1,500 a month | One location, the essentials |
| The Map Pack Engine | $2,500 a month | All four steps, with the guarantee |
| Multi-Location | $1,000 a month per location | Three or more locations |
There is a $1,000 setup fee, waived on quarterly prepay. The minimum term is three months, then monthly with 30 days' notice. A Map Pack Audit on its own, with a map ranking scan and a 90-day plan, costs $750 once.
Red Flags in Local SEO Offers
Cheap local SEO often costs more than it saves. Walk away from any offer that:
- Guarantees the number one spot in the map pack. Google states that "there's no way to request or pay for a better local ranking", and results change with the searcher's location, so nobody can promise one position everywhere.
- Buys or writes reviews. The FTC's rule banning fake reviews and testimonials took effect on October 21, 2024, and Google removes fake reviews and can restrict profiles that collect them. A review system should only ask real customers.
- Stuffs keywords into your business name. It can lift rankings for a while, but it breaks Google's guidelines and puts the profile at risk of suspension.
- Keeps the profile in the agency's name. Your Business Profile should be owned by you, with the agency added as a manager.
- Builds hundreds of directory listings instead of fixing the ones that matter for your industry and area.
- Reports only rankings from one spot. Ask for rankings across your service area and for calls, direction requests and bookings.
A fair guarantee promises measurable movement against a baseline you agree at the start, such as more of your service area ranking in the top three, with written conditions.
Is Local SEO Worth It?
For most businesses that serve a local area, yes, because the people searching are ready to call. In BrightLocal's 2026 consumer survey, 97% of consumers read reviews for local businesses before choosing one, so local SEO work on reviews pays twice: in rankings and in the decision to call.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in a local SEO package?
At minimum: Google Business Profile optimization and management, a review request system, consistent business listings, local pages on your website, local links, call and form tracking, and a regular report on rankings and leads. Cheaper packages often cover only the profile and a report.
Is local SEO cheaper than regular SEO?
Usually, because the work is focused on one area and the Business Profile does much of the heavy lifting. A single-location business in a quiet market can see results on a smaller budget than a national SEO campaign, but crowded markets such as legal or home services cost more.
How long should I commit to local SEO?
Give it at least three to six months. Profile fixes can work quickly, but reviews, pages and links build up over time. Avoid long contracts without a way out if there is no progress.
Can I pay for local SEO per location?
Many agencies price multi-location work per location, because each one needs its own profile, reviews and local pages. Shared work such as the website and reporting usually makes each extra location cheaper than the first.
