The 12 Points Behind the Score

The same 12 points and weights as the readiness check on our GEO page. Eight are measured from your page and four happen off your site, so you answer them. A warning earns half the points. Checks marked estimate read patterns in your HTML and can miss what a person would see.

Structure 34 points

Each key page answers one clear question 10 points
AI engines quote passages that answer one question cleanly. A page that covers five topics gives them nothing clean to lift. Measured from your page.
The opening two sentences under each heading work alone 10 points
Engines lift the first sentences under a heading. When the answer comes after the context, a clearer page gets quoted instead. Measured from your page.
Prices, timelines and ranges are stated as numbers 8 points
Questions about price, time and size need numbers. Pages that state them get quoted; a page that says to contact you for a quote does not. Measured from your page.
Your FAQ comes from real customer questions 6 points
FAQ answers line up with the questions people type into ChatGPT and Google. Measured from your page.

Identity 21 points

Organization markup links your official profiles 8 points
Organization markup with links to your profiles tells engines which business is behind the page, so they can confirm it. Measured from your page. Google: organization markup
Expert content has named authors with credentials 7 points
Named experts with credentials make content easier to trust and to attribute. Measured from your page.
Your business is described the same way everywhere 6 points
Engines cross-check your business across sites. Different descriptions make them less sure what you do. You answer this one.

Standing 28 points

You appear on review and directory sites in your category 10 points
Review sites and directories are where engines check that real customers use you. You answer this one.
You have published original data or research 10 points
Original numbers are the one thing a model cannot get from a competitor, so they get cited. You answer this one.
Other sites cite your findings 8 points
When other sites cite your findings, engines treat you as a source rather than a seller. You answer this one.

Access 17 points

AI crawlers are allowed in robots.txt 9 points
If robots.txt blocks an AI crawler, that engine cannot read the page to quote it. Measured from your page. OpenAI: crawlers
Key content loads without JavaScript 8 points
Many AI crawlers read the raw HTML and do not run JavaScript, so text drawn by scripts can be invisible to them. Measured from your page. Vercel: the rise of the AI crawler

How to Fix the Most Common Gaps

Five fixes that move the most points, in the order we would make them.

  1. Let AI crawlers in

Check robots.txt for Disallow rules under GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended. Some security plugins and CDNs add them by default. Blocking a training bot is a business choice; blocking the search bots means those engines cannot quote you.

  2. Put the answer first

Under every heading, answer the question in the first one or two sentences, then add the detail. Engines lift those opening lines; start with context and they lift someone else's.

  3. State your numbers

Publish price ranges, timelines and sizes in plain figures. A stated range can be quoted; 'contact us for a quote' cannot.

  4. Mark up who you are

Add Organization or LocalBusiness JSON-LD with sameAs links to your LinkedIn, Google Business Profile and review profiles, so engines can confirm the business behind the page.

  5. Make content readable without JavaScript

If your page is built by scripts in the browser, switch on server rendering or pre-rendering so the HTML already contains your text when a crawler arrives.

AI SEO Checker Questions

What does this AI SEO checker test?
Whether AI engines can read, trust and quote your page. It checks robots.txt for 10 crawlers, whether your text is in the HTML without JavaScript, Organization markup, named authors, answer-first sections, stated numbers, an FAQ and one clear topic. You answer four off-site points: consistent descriptions, listings, original data and citations by other sites.
Is it free?
Yes. No signup and no email wall; the full report shows on screen. We offer a free review at the end, which you are free to ignore.
Does a high score mean ChatGPT will recommend me?
No. The score measures whether engines can read, trust and quote the page. Whether they name you also depends on your reviews, listings and what other sites say about you, and on how well competitors answer the same question. Our GEO audit measures that part across four engines.
Should I block GPTBot?
It depends on what you want. GPTBot collects training data, while OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User fetch pages for ChatGPT's answers. Many businesses allow the search bots and decide on training bots separately. The report lists each one so you can see what your robots.txt does today.
Does blocking Google-Extended remove me from AI Overviews?
No. Google says Google-Extended controls whether content is used for Gemini models and does not affect Google Search. AI Overviews are part of Search and use the normal Googlebot crawl, so blocking Googlebot is what removes a page from both.
Do I need an llms.txt file?
It does no harm, but no major AI engine has confirmed it reads one, so it does not count toward the score. Server-rendered text, clear structure and crawler access matter more.
Why are some checks marked estimate?
Structure checks read patterns in your HTML: how many H1s there are, how long the first paragraph under each heading is, and how many prices and durations appear. They catch most problems, but a person reading the page may judge differently. Treat them as a prompt to look, not a verdict.
How is this different from the SEO audit tool?
The SEO audit checks what Google needs to index and rank a page. This checker looks at what AI engines need to quote it: access for AI bots, answer-first writing, stated numbers and markup that proves who you are. Most pages need both.
