What the Audit Checks, and Why

The score is out of 100. Each check carries the points shown, and a warning earns half. Speed is shown separately, so the score means the same on every site and every test.

Indexing 30 points

The page loads 8 points
Google indexes pages that answer with status 200. Chains of redirects slow crawling and can lose signals on the way. Google: HTTP status codes
Google may index it 10 points
A noindex tag or header keeps the page out of Google, however good it is. Google: robots meta tag
robots.txt lets Google crawl it 6 points
If robots.txt blocks Googlebot, Google cannot read the page, so it cannot rank it on its content. Google: robots.txt
Canonical tag points to itself 6 points
The canonical tag tells Google which address to rank when several show the same content. Google: canonical URLs

On-page 35 points

Title tag 10 points
The title is the headline of your search result and one of the clearest signals of what the page is about. Google: title links
Meta description 6 points
Google often shows it as the snippet under your title, and a clear one earns more clicks. Google: snippets
One main heading (H1) 8 points
One H1 tells readers and search engines the page's main topic. Google: SEO starter guide
Headings in order 3 points
Headings that step down in order make the page easy to scan and easy to quote. Google: SEO starter guide
Images have alt text 5 points
Alt text is how Google understands an image, and screen readers depend on it. Google: image SEO
Social preview tags 3 points
Open Graph tags set the title and image people see when the page is shared. The Open Graph protocol

Content 15 points

Enough text to answer the search 10 points
Pages with very little text rarely answer a search well enough to rank. Google: helpful content
Links to your other pages 5 points
Internal links help Google find and understand your other pages and pass authority to them. Google: crawlable links

Technical 20 points

Served over HTTPS 5 points
Browsers mark plain http pages as not secure, and HTTPS is part of Google's page experience. Google: page experience
Works on phones 4 points
Google indexes the mobile version of a page first. Without a viewport tag, phones show a shrunken desktop page. Google: mobile-first indexing
Language is declared 2 points
The lang attribute helps browsers, screen readers and translation tools handle the page. MDN: the lang attribute
Structured data 5 points
Structured data describes your business and content in a form search engines and AI can read without guessing. Google: structured data
XML sitemap 2 points
A sitemap lists the pages you want crawled, which helps Google find new and updated pages. Google: sitemaps
Fast, lean server response 2 points
A slow server delays everything after it, including the moment the main content appears. web.dev: time to first byte

How to Fix the Most Common Problems

Five fixes that come up again and again, in the order we would make them.

  1. Remove an accidental noindex

Site builders and staging settings often leave a noindex tag behind after launch. Search your page source for noindex and check your SEO plugin's setting that discourages search engines. One line can hide a whole site.

  2. Write a title that leads with the service

Put the service and the place first: 'Roof repair in Austin' beats 'Home | Smith and Co'. Keep it near 30 to 60 characters so Google shows it whole, and give every page its own title.

  3. Give every page one H1

Many themes wrap the logo in an H1, so every page has two. Keep one H1 that states the page's topic and use H2s for its sections.

  4. Say enough to answer the search

A service page with 80 words cannot answer what buyers ask. Cover price ranges, process, timelines, proof and the next step, and answer each heading's question in its first sentence.

  5. Add structured data for your business

JSON-LD for your organization (or LocalBusiness) and for the page type lets Google and AI engines read who you are without guessing. Test it with Google's Rich Results Test after you add it.

SEO Audit Questions

Is this SEO audit really free?
Yes. There is no signup and no email wall, and the full report shows on screen. At the end we offer a free review call, which you are free to ignore.
What does the SEO audit check?
18 checks in four groups: indexing (can Google reach and index the page), on-page (title, description, headings, image alt text and social tags), content (amount of text and internal links) and technical (HTTPS, mobile viewport, language, structured data, sitemap and server response). Speed and Core Web Vitals come from Google's PageSpeed Insights on top.
Does it check my whole website?
It checks the page you enter plus the site files that affect it: robots.txt and your XML sitemap. Run it on your most important pages one at a time: the homepage, each service page and your best category or product.
Why is my score different from other SEO tools?
Every tool weighs things differently. Ours shows every weight on this page, so you can see exactly why you got your score. Speed stays out of the score because it changes from one test to the next.
What is a good SEO audit score?
90 or more means the technical and on-page basics are right. From there, rankings depend on content, links and competition, which no single-page audit can measure. Under 70, fix the failed checks first.
Why can the audit not reach my page?
We only check public web pages. Pages behind a login, on a private network, blocked by a firewall or slower than 10 seconds to answer cannot be checked. Some security services block unknown bots; ours is called ClicksBracketBot.
Does the audit see content loaded by JavaScript?
No. It reads the HTML your server sends, which is what many crawlers read first. If your main content only appears after JavaScript runs, the audit reports very little text. That is worth fixing, because many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript either.
How is this different from a full SEO audit?
This tool checks one page automatically. Our Revenue Leak Audit is done by people: every page crawled, your Search Console and GA4 read, every fix ranked by impact, and a recorded walkthrough, delivered in 7 working days for $999 at the launch price.
Do you keep the pages I check?
We keep each result for 15 minutes so repeat checks are fast, then it is gone. We do not store the address against your name unless you book a call.
